Time for my 15th Christmas party for Westfalia Orphanage, high in the mountains outside Lima, Peru.

As well as providing assistance throughout the year with food, clothes, baby formula and essential needs, the most exciting help is the Christmas party. Every Christmas we provide a party with a show, music and games, face painting, a big turkey lunch, 2 gifts for each child and of course a heavy dose of fun!

The children come from complicated backgrounds such as extreme poverty, abuse. Some have been removed from dangerous situations, or there was no family member able to care for them, and several were even abandoned in the street and brought to the orphanage.

So Westfalia Orphanage is their home where they receive the love and the care they need. Activities such as an amazing Christmas party bring some normality to their lives and reinforce the knowledge that they are loved and we care about them because we always show up for them.

The orphanage receives only minimal assistance from the government which isn’t even enough to meet the children’s needs, so they need extra help. We’ve always been able to help the kids with food, clothes, medicines, school supplies, etc., but we need a little extra help at Christmas time.
